Chemical Formula Sugar

Sugar is basically a sweet flavored white crystalline compound which is sweet in nature. It consists of carbohydrates along with carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. There are many types of Sugars molecules. The general chemical formula of all the sugar is  CnH2nO2n . where n can vary from 3 to 7.

Sugar molecules are classified into two categories:
1). Monosaccharides (Simple sugars with single sugar unit)
2). Disaccharides ( More than one sugar unit).

Chemical Formula Of Sugar

The molecules of sugar include glucose, fructose, galactose, lactose, sucrose, maltose. Now here we'll check out the chemical formula for all types of sugar.

Monosaccharides

* Glucose : Glucose is a monosaccharide and the chemical formula of glucose is C6H12O6.

* Fructose : Fructose is again a monosaccharide i.e. contains only 1 sugar unit. The chemical formula of Fructose is C6H12O6.

* Galactose : Galactose is a type of monosaccharide. The chemical formula of galactose is C6H12O6.

Disaccharides

Combination of two monosaccharide molecules gives disaccharides.

* Sucrose : Sucrose is found in sugarcane and generally known as table sugar. The molecule of sucrose is formed by the combination of glucose molecule and fructose molecule. The chemical formula of sucrose is C12H22O11.

* Maltose : Maltose molecule is formed by the combination of two glucose molecules. The chemical formula of maltose is C12H22O11.

* Lactose : Lactose is a found in milk. Lactose molecule is formed by a combination of glucose molecule and galactose molecule. Lactose is broken down by enzyme named lactase found in human body which helps in digestion. The chemical formula of lactose is C12H22O11.

I hope you are now well aware of all the chemical formula of sugar and chemical formula sugar molecules.
